As a teacher I have the privilidge to see transformation all the time. I get to be there when a student who has previously refused to speak, even in front of the class, go up in front of an auditorium with 200 people and devliever a speech. I see it in essays where students admit that the music they listened to influenced their racist thoughts. I see it in a student who comes back from a student government trip full of ideas and wanting to go in to politics, to make the world a better place. I see it in myself when a student asks a question and I see the world in a different way.

Change and transformation is also hard, as Rev. Mark Morrison-Reed says "Change causes anxiety. Anxiety awakens resistance", and I see that daily too. My school stands before some real changes. Changes that should have happened a long time ago, and for many of the teachers this change is scary. I do so wish that they could see the positive in this change. Yes at first it will mean a lot of work. More work for them. But in the end it will mean less work. Things will become easier. My wish is that more people saw change as a possibility. That people saw change as something good. As and opportunity to get rid of burdens and keep the good.

May change always bring you joy in the end.
